GRANT WRITING AND RESEARCH PROJECTS MANAGMENT WORKSHOP

Under the EABRTM Project – D43 (Enhanced Advanced Biomedical Research for Mozambique), the MIHER in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine of the Eduardo Mondlane University, the Infectious Diseases Division and Global Public Health, University of California San Diego, organized and ministered a course of Grant Writing and Research Projects Management, in the cities of Quelimane and Maputo.

Grant Writing and Research Projects Management

The course, addressed theoretical and practical aspects of knowledge in the areas of management, finance and administration of research projects and it was designed for investigators and managers of projects concerned with the acquisition or strengthening of scientific research management skills. With these training sessions, the participants gained tools that will enable them to identify external support opportunities for research development and the development of epistemic and operational plans of multidisciplinary research projects.

Grant Writing and Research Projects ManagementThis training program, with about 40 participants, had as facilitators, Drs Robert Schooley and Constance Benson, prominent professors from the University of California San Diego, with extensive experience in teaching and research, partnership development and fundraising for teaching and research in the Health sector in Africa. Participants who attended 80% of training time, obtained a certificate of participation, indicating the acquired skills and professional credits accumulated.

Along with this training, the professors conducted lectures on sepsis and neurological diseases associated with HIV, aimed at the medical staff at the Central Hospitals of Quelimane and Maputo, and they held a courtesy meeting with the Principal of the Pedagogical University, in order to jointly explore new areas of cooperation.
